Now, it’s not really known who came up with this belief. But whoever it was; this person clearly had never heard of a crime of passion...
Ah, l’amour; it’s wild and exciting. But it’s also uncertain and a bit nerve-wracking, isn’t it? And if things don’t go as smoothly as desired, you might find yourself pushing your own boundaries bit by bit because you just want it so badly.
Yes, love can be very addictive and intense. You just keep on going until one day you’ll find yourself knee-deep in the midst of it all, feeling like there’s no turning back after all you’ve invested. In fact, you’re more than ever determined to make it work!
The Entrepreneurial Life
It’s kind of our way of life, isn’t it? I mean, I’m sure most of us LOVE our business; but it’s still crazy hard work! We don’t really say it out loud because we don’t want to sound weak or seem incapable, but the truth is… being your own boss just isn’t all unicorns and rainbows.
We put ourselves in this emotional rollercoaster called entrepreneurship. We push ourselves through the daily grind, the all-nighters and the constant struggle with self-doubt. And if that isn’t enough, we often also tend to be the most unempathetic, merciless bosses to ourselves, so yeah…
The magic of Love
I’m pretty sure that working under these circumstances is only possible when driven BY love. Only passion can make us work harder than we’ve ever done before. And that’s why I think this expression isn’t accurate. External factors can’t be deleted by anything! Nothing can mute the annoying customer, nothing can erase the obligation of dealing with taxes. If it feels like work it’s not because you don’t love it enough. If it feels like work you should ask yourself: ‘Do I love it enough to do it?’
Because if you do, you’ll be able to do it all. Now that’s the magic of love!
Love is needed to serve as your biggest motivator to pursue your goals. It’s not money, not success or fame; it’s your love that will push you through the tough times. Because there will always be ups and down, nagging customers and off days. There’s no such thing as success only, no rain no flowers baby! (an expression I do agree with):
Now, back to the crime of passion, I think the only crime for us entrepreneurs is that we sometimes get blindsided by love and go way beyond our own limits.
But let's talk about that next time!
